Alcaraz Prepares for Competition in Queen's Ahead of Wimbledon

  • Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed his participation in the HSBC Championships tournament in Queen's.
  • The tournament will begin on June 16 and is an important event leading up to Wimbledon.
  • Alcaraz will face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the first round.

This was reported by BBC, The New York Times.

Alcaraz Confirms Participation in Queen's Tournament

Carlos Alcaraz, the reigning champion of the French Open and Wimbledon, has confirmed his participation in the HSBC Championships, which will take place at the Queen's Club in West London.

Despite doubts about his participation following his epic victory in the French Open final, Alcaraz has announced his intention to compete in the tournament. This is positive news for an event that has already lost last year's finalists, Tommy Paul and Lorenzo Musetti, as well as the 2022 champion Matteo Berrettini.

Paul and Musetti sustained injuries during the Roland Garros tournament, while Berrettini has not played since withdrawing from his match against Casper Ruud at the Italian Open due to ongoing stomach issues.

On Sunday, Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner in the French Open final, becoming champion for the second time. The match lasted five hours and 29 minutes, making it the second-longest final in Grand Slam history.

After the final, Alcaraz went on vacation to Ibiza, a tradition he has followed after Roland Garros. Last year, he lost to Jack Draper in the second round, but he won Wimbledon in both years he participated in Queen's.

The Queen's tournament, which starts on June 16, is one of the most prestigious pre-Wimbledon competitions. Alcaraz will play against fellow countryman Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the first round, while Draper will meet American Jenson Brooksby.
