Google Launches AI Agent Jules for Programming

  • Jules offers a free plan with 15 tasks per day.
  • The tool integrates with GitHub and supports asynchronous task execution.
  • Google updated its privacy policy regarding the use of repositories.

This is reported by Mezha, ZDNet.

Google has officially launched its AI agent for programming, Jules, after beta testing that began in May 2025. The tool utilizes the Gemini 2.5 Pro model and allows users to execute tasks asynchronously, integrates with GitHub, creates environments on Google Cloud virtual machines, and updates code in real-time without developer involvement.

Jules was announced as a Google Labs project in June 2024 and underwent several updates to its interface and quality during the testing phase. The main reason for the exit from the beta version, according to Google Labs product director Keti Korevek, was the improvement in stability.

Along with the launch, the company also introduced a new pricing structure. The free plan allows for the execution of up to 15 tasks per day, with three of them able to be completed simultaneously. Paid plans—AI Pro and Ultra—cost $19.99 and $124.99 respectively and offer higher limits for usage.

Google has updated its confidentiality policy: public repositories can be used for training models, but private ones cannot. Jules also received deeper integration with GitHub after the exit from beta: now it can open pull requests, as well as forks, and the new Environment Snapshots feature preserves dependencies and scripts for reproducing task execution.

During the beta testing, users initiated tens of thousands of tasks and contributed over 140,000 public code improvements. The tool is learning to work even with legacy repositories, making it more accessible. According to SimilarWeb data, in May, the Jules site attracted 2.28 million users, 45% of whom were from mobile devices.

In the absence of a dedicated mobile app, Jules widely utilizes the web interface, and Google is exploring the possibility of additional support for smartphones. The number of projects in the company that are already utilizing this tool is also increasing.
